Wedding Cake Information
Each Wedding Cake is divided in to tiers (classically 3-5 tiers/cake). The amount of tiers on your wedding cake will depend up on the amount of guests you will have on your wedding and also up on the design of the cake.
Each Tier has three layers if made with Genoise and two layers if made with Classic Cake. Between each layer of Cake you can fill with one kind of filling. If choosing a Genoise as the cake part you could essentially have two different fillings (one between each layer). Also you can off course have different Cakes/Genoise and Fillings of your choice for each different Tier. As complex or simple as you like!
Sweet Nothings Wedding Cake Prices starts at $400 and the price increases depending on size of wedding, choice and complexity of flavors, design of the wedding cake and also popularity of date/season.
I sometimes get requests regards to having a display wedding cake and serving a sheetcake.
Designing a displaycake and making a sheetcake to serve the guests requires nearly the same amount of time and attention as creating a real one. That being said, if the design of your cake is prohibited by size or other factors (you have 200+ guests, for an example) a sheet cake may be in order but otherwise normally not recommended.
Wedding Cake Procedure
At first we will need to find out the date of your wedding to make sure there is availability.
We are happy to accommodate clients with rapidly approaching weddings but to increase the likelihood of availability we recommend you contacting us at least six moths in advance. However if your date/season is popular consider make arrangements as soon as feasible.
In order to book a wedding date a $100 nonrefundable deposit is required, if for some reason the wedding date needs to be moved the deposit can be transferred to another date, granted its still available.
You can now make an appointment with us and also arrange for us to make you a wedding “test” cake. A test cake needs to be requested at least with one weeks notice and a flat fee $20/test cake is due up on pick up/drop of.
Coming to the meeting with a lot of your wedding details arranged such as colors, flower arrangements, themes, budgets etc will help us have a good starting point in understanding the nature of your wedding day. This will help our job in creating a beautiful elegant, and delicious cake that naturally compliments the tone of your wedding. Together we can now find the look, taste and personality of your weddingcake.
When we together have tweaked the flavors, design and every last bit of detail to arrive at the cake of your dreams we will if you wish sign a binding legal contract.
